Avoiding the Homesick Student Blues

It’s not unusual for students to start feeling a little homesick once the excitement of moving-in day starts to fade. You may love your new surroundings, but you may suddenly realize that you love your family more!

It’s only normal to have second thoughts about moving away from friends and family, but you can get through this stage by maintaining close contact. And there is good news: staying in touch doesn’t have to cost a fortune!

If you are finding that you had to sacrifice your flashy cell phone or calling plan to ease the burden of college costs, you can find an affordable phone and plan with a little smart shopping.

If a cell phone just isn’t in the budget this year, you can still stay in touch for free (or really cheap) using VoIP technology. Simply download a VoIP program and start phoning home, using headphones and your own PC or laptop computer.
